About Us

John & Evelyn Dougherty have run Port Kennedy Automotive Repair on the Port Kennedy Industrial Park for 12 years having migrated from the UK where they ran a similar successful business for 13 years.  In recent years both their sons have joined the business working hard to give their customers a good experience during what is often a stress purchase.  Since you are dealing with the owners of the business who are also repairing your vehicle there is less likelihood of problems with communication as is often the case when dealing with larger business.  If you need to do so you can speak to the person who will repair your vehicle directly.

John was trained in the UK & is capable of carrying out most repairs including auto-electrical work he is constantly attending courses to update his skills on modern electronically controlled vehicles & our staff are in turn trained by John.  John has over 30 years experience having trained in the motor trade from age 16.  Evelyn runs the office & is happy to answer your questions or book your vehicle for repair or to simply hire you a vehicle.  Our aim is to give you personal efficient service.

We understand the problems associated with a vehicle break down which causes a difficult situation for customers who rely heavily on their vehicle whether for collecting children from school or requiring the vehicle for work purposes.  In order to alleviate this problem we have a small car hire fleet & do our best to ensure our customers are able to have the use of one of our hire vehicles as a reduced rate (subject to availability) whilst their vehicle is being repaired.  We work hard to ensure that our work is to a high standard yet done as quickly & efficiently as possible. Getting you back on the road is our priority… we will do so as quickly as possible.

Our business has built up a considerable customer base over time with customers returning to us each time they require assistance…. we are happy to say some of our customers are now our very good friends!
